2016-17 Results

After weeks of preparation and hard work, our 14 year 11 students and 16 year 10 students finally received their results on the morning of August 10th. The weeks of waiting were finally over…

Yet again, students have done well, so congratulations to the IGCSE Class of 2016 – 2017 (and year 10 students who took early exams) with 12 students receiving their ICE award diploma.  The ICE diploma (Cambridge International Certificate in Education) is an extra certificate – a group award given by Cambridge –provided that students have the right combination of IGCSE subjects being examined.  No extra exams are required. To qualify for this extra award, students must take at least seven subjects, including two from Group I and one or more from each of the other groups.

The groups are:

1 - Languages

2 - Humanities

3 - Sciences

4 - Mathematics

5 - Creative

33% of our students achieved a Distinction, that is to say A*/A grades in five or more subjects, 50% achieved a Merit  (A* - C grades in five or more subjects) and 16% a Pass for their ICE Diploma.

This is another good set of results for the British International School Istanbul with 78.8% exam pass rate and 64% of students achieving 5 or more A* to C grades including English and Mathematics. There were 49 A*and A grades out of 123 exams (not including early entry results) and five students gained five or more A* and A grades.

The overall mean grade achieved by Year 11 students was B.

We offer special congratulations to:

We are very proud of all of our students in the IGCSE Class of 2017.  Some of our students will move on to different countries to complete the final stage of their secondary education and for those who are leaving us, they leave with our very best wishes for the future.  Those who are staying will be joining our IB Diploma Programme and have two years of hard work in front of them before they finally graduate.

The success of our IGCSE Class of 2017 has been a collaborative effort between our students, their parents and our teachers.  BISI would like to thank all of our parents whose support has been invaluable throughout the course.  We would also like, especially, to thank our teachers for the excellent job they have done in preparing our students for their examinations and encouraging them at all times to achieve their full academic potential.
