The BIS Educational Visits

The BIS offers a wide variety of trips, appropriate to the age of the children. In the Pre School, the children visit educational locations within the proximity of the school.  The young children visit the local farm, the nearby forest, shops, parks and museums to enhance their studies.  The primary age children compare and contrast places in Istanbul, for example, a local village by the sea and an urban location to further their studies in history and geography.  Their art studies are enhanced by visiting museums, galleries and mosques around the city. Additionally, residential trips begin when your joins Year 4.  They are encouraged to join these trips to develop their personal, social, health and emotional skills: this may be the first opportunity they have had to begin the long process of gaining independence.  Residential trips include skiing in Bulgaria, camping by the Black Sea, Space Camp and visiting Cappadocia.

Subject specific day trips take place in the Secondary School to supplement and extend the learning experiences of our students. They also encounter Trips Week – Year 7, 8, 9 and 12 all go on residential trips to various locations, normally within Türkiye, in the first week of October.  This continues the tradition of out of the classroom education and experiences begun in the Primary School.  Furthermore, there is generally at least one overseas trip per year, for example the Modern Foreign Languages department organise trips to France, Spain and Germany giving students the opportunity to practise their growing language skills.

We also have many sports based trips, ranging from competitive sport against local schools to participation in international sporting events, for example the annual COBIS Games.  We are highly involved in the Model United Nations in which students get to meet their peers from other schools in Türkiye and further afield on these four day visits.
