Erdal was born in Ankara, Türkiye. In 1974 he completed his middle school years at EHFB English High School in Istanbul. He then attended Paddington Technical College in London where he studied Pure/Applied Maths and Physics. He later moved to California where he took a Major in Electronics and Computer Engineering and a Minor in Computer Science. In 1982 he attended Stanford University where he obtained his MBA Degree.

Erdal then proceeded to become the founder of many international companies in various countries including, Alpine Industries Trading Electronic Components), PDI LTD: Ukraine Telecommunication Engineering, Installation and Service Company For GSM Networks Located in Kiev Ukraine, Precision Design Inc: Design and Manufacturing of Multi-Layer Printed Circuit Boards For Commercial and Military Operations in California USA, PDI-Erkom A.S: Government IT Contractual Company in Ankara Türkiye, Precision Design Intelligence: Media

Online and IT: Internet and Marketing both Located in Istanbul Türkiye and finally The BIS (PDI-Er A.S): The British International School in Istanbul.Erdal spends most of his time travelling between his various businesses but his country of residence is Istanbul. His hobbies are Scuba Diving, Skiing, Photography and Travelling.

Alexandra Sezen is of Greek origin, born in Africa and lived in the UK and the US before moving to Türkiye in 1998.

She has been a board member for the past 22 years and both her children graduated from the British International School, Istanbul.

Nazım Ünsal Abuşoğlu was born in Erzurum, Türkiye. After completing his Primary and Secondary education in Istanbul, then graduated from university with a BA in mechanical engineering.

Ünsal’s further studies are in Business Administration which was followed as a combined post graduate programme from Marmara, La Salle and Main Universities. He then took various training in marketing, management, finance and digital media which has led him to the Information Technology sector.

Ünsal joined Superonline where he directed Campaigns and dealt with VIP customers. Then he worked long years as a manager and business development responsible at PDI Group which operates in Education, Digital Media, Finance and Information Technology fields.

Ünsal is currently acting as a Board Member and General Manager of PDI Group. He is also the managing partner of Online Media Marketing Agency and PDI Digital Media Agency.

He is representing the PDI Group at the Board of Governors of the British International School, Istanbul.

Erik Klomp is a Dutch citizen who graduated as a civil engineer. He started his working career as a dredging engineer in Saudi Arabia working for an international contractor. After 2 years he decided to continue his education and studied marketing and sales for his second degree. He continued his career by working for an international trade agency which specialised in trade in Eastern Europe and Russia.

After gaining enough export experience he became International Sales Manager for a large Dutch trading company focusing on the, at that time, newly emerging Russian market. Seeing the opportunities in the fast growing market in Russia, he started his own business which concentrated on the sales of construction materials. Twelve years after his start in Moscow he finally ended up in Istanbul.

Today his own business, named Novodoor, has developed well and became a major door supplier for contractors in Türkiye and abroad. Erik is married and has three children who all attended The BIS. He likes to travel with his family abroad to gain new experiences and loves all kinds of adventurous sports.

Erik has been a member of the Board of Governors of The BIS since 2009. His goal is that The BIS will continue to be the best International School in Türkiye and that the Board of Governors, the school leadership, the parents and the students will cooperate in such a way to achieve the best out of it!

Career: He has started his professional career, in 1988 as Site Engineer at various companies. He joined Tekfen Construction and Installation Co., Inc. in 1990. He was Site Engineer, Company Representative, Head Office Coordinator, Project Manager at sites, respectively until 2005. Mr. Kafkaslı who was Vice President in Azfen JV from 1999 to 2000, was appointed as Vice President, Operations Responsible for Caspian Region in 2005. In May 2013, he was appointed as the President of Tekfen Construction. Mr. Kafkaslı is married, with 2 children and fluent in English.

Taner Erdoğan Sezen attended the British International School Istanbul for nine years and graduated with his IB Diploma. After high school, he moved to London, where he studied Business and Economics at Richmond University. Following this, he continued his undergraduate education at Koç University in Istanbul and at Stanford University in Palo Alto. Taner holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Graduate certificate in Management Science and Engineering.

Taner started his career working in the banking sector with investment banks in various countries around the world. He worked as a data research analyst in Dubai and Singapore, as well as in Istanbul. Following this, he decided to work in the Architecture and Design sector, where he completed multiple projects with various companies. Taner uses his advanced knowledge of 3d design software to produce realistic architectural renders. He is the founder of two companies, TESA Architecture and The BIS Summer Camp.

Taner is a licensed tennis player and competes in tennis tournaments. He also loves to snowboard, drive atv’s, scuba dive, take care of his indoor plants and travel. He is married to his wife Maria, who also attended the British International School Istanbul. They have one daughter.

With extensive experience in corporate management and governance, she has held leadership roles across various sectors, including agricultural consulting and private family office trusts. Her professional expertise spans corporate secretarial duties, financial accounting, office management, and strategic communications.

Beyond her professional endeavors, she has been a dedicated member of the BIS community for many years, actively contributing as a class representative, PTA Secretary, Vice Chair, and Chair. She has played a pivotal role in coordinating school events and fostering community engagement. Her broad skill set and commitment to both professional and community development make her a valued member of the school board.
